Yayoi Kusama is a self-described “obsessional artist” well-known for her extensive use of polka dots, orb lighting, and pumpkins. Her art has employed painting, sculpture, performance art, fashion design, and installations in a variety of styles, including pop art and minimalism.

Jacqueline Small, MFA, Hirshhorn Tour Guide and Dial-a-Docent Founding Member, will provide a panorama of the life and art of Yayoi Kusama, in anticipation of the planned return of the artist’s work to the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. This exhibition follows Ms. Kusama’s sold-out exhibition at the Hirshhorn in 2017, “Infinity Mirror Room”. The Tate Modern in London also plans to showcase her work, starting in Spring 2021.

This online session will be an opportunity to examine the artist’s works without the pressure of crowds.
