Doodling is spontaneous, uncensored drawing. Doodling helps us process our emotions, alleviate stress and develop new possibilities for creative expression. These workshops will not just be about making art but about the different ways we experience art and how it affects us. We will integrate movement, art, and playful sharing into our art making experience.

This hands-on workshop is for novices and experienced artists. We will mess about, dabble and fiddle to our heart’s content. We will explore both the process and the product of our art practice sharing insights, joys and concerns.

The Art of Doodling is a series of workshops that will encompass abstract and minimally representational drawing. Themes include radiating designs, symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns, imaginary beasts, fantasy figures, graphic stories and sacred symbols. You are invited to come to one, some or all of the workshops as the spirit moves you.

Suggested Materials:

  • 8 sheets or 8×12 paper or larger
  • HB sketching pencil and/or mechanical pencil
  • colored pencils
  • fine tipped magic markers (ultra fine and fine point Sharpies) and/or fine tipped colored pens. Recommendation for affordable, high-quality pens: Chameleon Fineliner Pen Sets on Amazon Smile (for very fine detail work)

The Art of Doodling will be offered monthly on Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:00pm:  March 18, April 15, May 20
