movies@hope proudly presents the Emmy Award-nominated documentary from 2020, Dick Johnson is Dead. Filmmaker Kirsten Johnson decides to make a film about her aging father’s reluctant decision to move from Seattle to live with her in New York. The result is by turns deeply touching and hilarious. Cheverly resident Dr. Claudia Thorne, expert on aging and Assistant Professor at Coppin State University, will be on hand to introduce this unique film about the pathos--and humor--of growing old.
For those of you who may prefer to stream the film themselves, it's available on Netflix, membership required. You can join us for the after-film discussion, beginning around 9:20.
