Please join the Prince George’s County Historical Society for a History Chat with Franklin Robinson, Jr., archivist with the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History's Archives Center, as he and John Peter Thompson discuss preservation and archiving of your family papers and photographs. John Peter Thompson’s mastery and understanding of our local history and his work with the Prince George’s County Historical Society is awesome.
Franklin Robinson, Jr. has processed the papers of songwriter Harry Warren, comic Groucho Marx, and Hollywood director George Sidney. In addition, he has processed collections dealing with agriculture, LGBTQ, popular culture, and the performing arts. He has also authored monographs and books on local Maryland history. His latest book, Faith & Tobacco was published in 2015 by Anchovy Hill Press. He holds a BFA from the Catholic University of America and an MA from American University, and is a member of the Society of American Archivists and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference. He is also a professional actor, produced playwright, and playwriting teacher. He is a resident of Benedict, Charles County, Maryland.
