The Cheverly Village book club will meet next on Wednesday, September 14th for a discussion of This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger; a well researched depression era story of three orphan boys and a little girl who escaped from the horrors of the Lincoln Indian Training School in Minnesota.
The books we choose open our eyes and our hearts to the many wonderful and not-so wonderful aspects of the human experience as we experience stories that cannot be imagined. Our next selections are: Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns about two Afghan women who endure the patriarchal society under the Taliban; The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny, a Canadian author recognized for her sophisticated literary mysteries; and L Hulme’s novel, The Bone People about complicated relationships between outcasts of mixed European and Maori heritage in New Zealand. The Book club discussions, while always interesting and captivating, need a diversity of life’s experiences to add more color to the conversations. YOU are invited to join and add your suggestions to the choice of books for the next six months.
Cheverly Village is inviting you to this scheduled Zoom meeting.
