A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO OUR VOLUNTEERS ON MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY 2021
Dear Valued and Treasured Cheverly Village Volunteer,
I would like to take this opportunity, on this National Day of Service – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to say THANK YOU!
You made this difficult year manageable and amplified support to members in ways that none of us could have predicted, planned for, or even imagined. Drivers, you followed strict safety protocols to meet the essential needs of Cheverly Village members to keep them safe and healthy. Tech volunteers you helped members learn and use new technology to keep them connected to our events and programs, and to their own families.
You routinely – sometime daily – checked in with members this past year as part of our “check in project.” In doing so, you have provided a lifeline to many.
You helped Cheverly Village and Wegman’s Pharmacy vaccinate 106 of our neighbors at our Drive-thru Flu Clinic.
You celebrated a member’s birthday by participating in a socially distanced parade in front of her house with handmade signs and balloons.
You placed Cheverly Village yard signs at your homes, to let people know about us, since we can not chat with newcomers at the market, playgrounds, and social events. And you made contributions in many other ways by donating your time and money.
As we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. and the National Day of Service, please know how deeply you are appreciated today and every day for your service to Cheverly Village.
Teresa Williams, President
