April 2018 Cheverly Newsletter

Time to take stock

Thich Nhat Hanh, often called the Father of Mindfulness, states, “No one has ever lived in the past or the future, only the now.” Worrying about the future or the past is certainly a misuse of our imaginations. However, evaluating what worked, or did not work, in the past and envisioning a desired future is a valuable exercise that we can accomplish in the now.

Cheverly Village has set Sunday, April 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, as our time to do just that.  We invite you to join us for our Annual Meeting, which will be held at the Cheverly Community Center.

We will review the strides that the Village has taken since its launch a year and a half ago. Over 60 Village volunteers are providing services in response to the requests made by our 43 members; a growing number of Cheverly Village social and educational activities offer opportunities for social interaction; and the Village is connecting members to a wider range of resources. While we will continue to develop and refine these services, we see that now is the time to explore new ways to support members and to connect across generations. We invite you to bring your imaginations and creative power to envisioning the Village’s future.

The Annual Meeting is open to the public, and we warmly invite all friends of the Village—members, volunteers, supporters and all who are curious—to join us for this opportunity to envision a brighter future for our community.

To help us plan refreshments, please let us know of your interest in attending. Members, please tell the Coordinator if you need a ride.

To find out how to support Cheverly Village as a volunteer, a member, or through your one-time or monthly donations, please contact us at Village@cheverlyvillage.org, 240 770 1033, www.cheverlyvillage.org, or by “snail mail” at 3416 Belleview Avenue.  Cheverly Village is a tax-deductible organization, and we are thankful for every gift—financial, time, and talent!
