Join your fellow Cheverly Village volunteers and members to visit the National Gallery of Art (NGA)on Wednesday, September 25!

Special installation: “Paris 1874: The Impressionist Moment” West Building, Main Floor

Our 20-person van will leave promptly at 10:00am from the parking lot of Cheverly United Methodist Church on Forest Road. The van will return to the CUMC lot at about 2:30pm.  You must call or email the Coordinator to reserve a spot on the van.

This remarkable presentation of 130 works includes many of the paintings first featured in a revolutionary exhibition held in Paris in 1874. Revisit beloved paintings by Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, and Camille Pissarro and meet their lesser-known contemporaries. See the art norms they were rebelling against and learn what political and social shifts sparked their new approach to art.  We are the only American stop for this historic exhibition!

Entrance to the NGA is free of charge, and Cheverly Village is paying for the rental van.

Reserve your spot on the van by September 17 by calling the Coordinator (240 770 1033) or emailing [email protected].  If more than 20 passengers sign up for the van, we will do our best to assemble volunteer drivers to take you to the NGA.

We will enter from Constitution Avenue and take the elevator to the main floor.  There will be wheelchairs and small portable stools that you may borrow. After touring the exhibition, if there is time, you may purchase a snack or light lunch. Please meet at the ground floor entrance on Constitution Avenue promptly by 2:00pm.
