The August book selection will be Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden; a national best seller of 1997. 

Arthur Golden received a degree of art history from Harvard specializing in Japanese art and a M.A. in Japanese history from Columbia University.  He also learned Mandarin Chinese and lived and worked in Tokyo.  In the words of St. Louis Dispatch, "Arthur Golden is a master.....An effortless literary transport to another time and place." 

 

 This was to have been the June book selection but had to be postponed.
