Venture back to the late nineteenth century with Richard Lum, a docent at the National Museum of Asian Art, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution, to explore the work of American artist James McNeill Whistler and his premier patron, Charles Lang Freer. The Freer Gallery of Art contains the best and most complete collection of works by Whistler in the world. Join us for an exploration of the Freer’s collection, which includes all major phases in Whistler’s career—from his early realistic paintings, innovative decorative works, moody night scenes, delicate watercolors, portraits, to his spectacular dining room known as “The Peacock Room.”
