Raluca Iarosis, a docent at the Hirshhorn Museum and the Smithsonian Castle since 2014, introduces us to three contemporary Women Artists who come from different parts of the world. The focus will be on the diversity of the techniques and materials among them, the resulting meaning or message in each case, and the source of inspiration.
Raluca was born in Romania and lived in Israel before coming to the US in 1994. She speaks five languages: Romanian, English, French, Italian and Hebrew.
Now semi-retired from a career in electrical engineering, Raluca likes to use her time in learning, studying and giving tours/presentations about Modern and Contemporary Art. One of her approaches is to look at the works of our times through the perspective of the history of art or history. Equally important, is to focus on the technique and materials used by the artists, which she considers a relevant point especially in contemporary art.
