Mount Hope Commission Inaugural Event
The Mount Hope is the historic plantation house on land that is now Cheverly.
The Mount Hope Commission invites you to participate in our inaugural event and the launch of our Book Club. Both events will take place on the federally observed Juneteenth holiday and will commemorate the lives of the individuals enslaved at the former Mount Hope Plantation. We will also honor the lives of the first peoples who inhabited the land. Event highlights will be a Community Intention setting, a time capsule planting, and a mindful acknowledgement of the past, present, and future led by Cheverly resident, Reverend Cheryl Jones, In Process, a cappela group (protegees of Sweet Honey in the Rock), and a young people's activity table. The kick-off of the Mount Hope Commission Book Club will occur at 3 PM.
No registration is needed to visit Mount Hope. Please register with Cheverly Village to let us know of your interest in this event.
Cheverly Village members, call the Coordinator (240-770-1033) to request a ride.
